1991 – The Birth of a Cosmopolitan Soul
Born in Zurich with Persian roots — the story of NIRVAN JAVAN began long before the brand itself. An apprenticeship as an optician and the rejection from a design school in Zurich opened the path to take fate into one’s own hands.
2015 – The First Chapter
Foundation of NIRVAN JAVAN and development of the first eyewear collection. Alongside the product, the first creative projects emerge — including the poetic film project CAER with Jamie Campbell Bower.
2016 – The First Appearance in the Swiss Market
Launch of the first optical collection in Switzerland. Successful partnerships are formed with the key accounts Visilab and Kochoptik. The NIRVAN JAVAN Atelier opens – a space for reflection and creative expression.
2017 – The Pursuit of Perfection
The first sunglasses collection is introduced. The brand’s puristic design language evolves further.
2018 – Stepping into the Spotlight
First appearances at eyewear shows. The first stainless steel collection is unveiled. Bellevue Optics in Zurich becomes the first independent optician to join this aesthetic journey.
2019 – The Brand Finds Its Voice
The brand concept is refined. The journey leads through cities across the globe. Cultural diversity becomes the creative source behind NIRVAN JAVAN EYEWEAR.
2020 – Japanese Craftsmanship Meets Swiss Design
Introduction of the first premium collections, handcrafted in Japan. The LONDON collection, made from exclusive Japanese acetate, and the TOKYO collection, a refined titanium line.
The journey continues via the Monocle community, and NIRVAN JAVAN begins appearing at events in Zurich and London.
2021 – The Journey Becomes Cinematic
The lead campaign #SEETHEWORLD – The Show is produced. Visual elegance meets emotional depth. Market expansion into European countries begins. The ARABICA collection is launched exclusively with Kochoptik.
2022 – An Ode to Diversity
The SHADES OF TORONTO mark the launch of the first premium sunglasses collection.
Inspired by the multicultural metropolis on Lake Ontario. With the release of the exclusive SHADES OF MEXICO, the collaboration with Kochoptik grows deeper.
2023 – Ready for the Future
The company is transformed into a stock corporation. Internal restructuring begins. Launch of the MARRAKECH collection, showcasing playful detailing and vibrant color compositions in premium Japanese acetate. A signature NJ pattern makes its way into the designs. With SILENT STALKER, another film project deepens the brand’s cinematic narrative.
2024 – Expanding the Creative World
NIRVAN JAVAN successfully completes a crowd-investing campaign. The journey leads into fashion collaborations with LUCA FERREIRA and ILHEMENT. The brand launches its own creative agency — building an ecosystem of design, storytelling, and service. At the EURO 2024, Swiss national football coach Murat Yakin is spotted wearing an NJ model.
2025 – A New Chapter in this Cosmopolitan Journey Begins
With the SHADES OF MILAN, Italian elegance and a signature logo find their way into the design language. NIRVAN JAVAN celebrates its 10th anniversary and reconnects with its Zurich roots.
